- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/3 cup water
- 6 apples, cored, peeled and diced any type will work, though I prefer a sweeter variety such as golden delicious or honeycrisp
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot in the order in which they are listed.
Place lid on Instant Pot and make sure valve is set to seal. Press the pressure cook button and set to high, then cook for 5 minutes. Instant Pot will take about 5-10 minutes to come to pressure then pressure cook for 5 minutes.
Let the Instant Pot do a natural pressure release. Open the lid when pressure gauge has dropped and the lid opens easily. Mash apples roughly with a potato masher, then you are ready to serve and enjoy!
Golden Delicious, Gala, Honey Crisp and Macintosh apples are the best kinds of apples to use for sauce.
Store your applesauce in the fridge for up to 10 days in mason jars or glass containers.
Freeze this recipe for up to 12 months without the cinnamon. Defrost at room temperature, stir in the spices and serve.
